Sharia Council denies calling for INEC chairman’s removal

The Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria dismissed as false allegations that it called on Muslims to pray for the removal of INEC chairman Prof Joash Amupitan. In a statement, Secretary-General Malam Nafi’u Baba-Ahmad clarified that these reports were fabrications aimed at creating confusion. However, the council reaffirmed its stance that the INEC chairman should either resign or be relieved of his duties due to concerns over his impartiality.
