Ofala Festival: From Royal Dancing to Robust Community Enterprise

The 2026 Ofala festival concluded in Onitsha, Anambra State, drawing a large crowd to the Ime Obi arena for the royal dance of Obi Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe and his cabinet chiefs. In his royal address, Achebe urged people in the South-East to take part in the 2027 elections, warning that apathy would deepen the region’s political marginalisation. He also outlined Onitsha Advancement Foundation projects, including household farming, basic ICT training for women, youth skills training and medical insurance. Achebe said the legal and administrative registration of the Onitsha Millennium Development Foundation was complete and reported inflows of 291.78 million naira as of August 31, 2026.
