Maurice Kamto Remains an Active MRC Member, Party Official Assures

One month after stepping down as president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC), Maurice Kamto remains an active party member with his membership rights intact, Christian Massoma said on 7HEBDO. The statement follows the MRC’s October 17, 2026, electoral convention, which elected Tiriane Balbine Noah amid internal tensions and the withdrawal of Pierre Emmanuel Binyam. Massoma said any decision to nominate Kamto for the 2032 presidential election must be made by a national council or convention under the party’s revised rules. Kamto’s nomination is therefore not guaranteed.
