How a junior KRA officer became the fall guy in a car auction error

A Kenyan employment court ruled that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) unfairly dismissed junior customs officer Collins Bosire over a botched auction of an uninspected Volkswagen Passat at Kilindini Customs Warehouse in Mombasa in June 2016. Although KRA accused him of negligence for including the vehicle without Kebs clearance, the court found that Bosire was not responsible because his role was limited to preparing an initial list; the final auction list was reviewed by the warehouse manager and auctioneers. KRA's own witnesses supported this, and acting Customs Commissioner Pamela Ahogo had recommended dropping disciplinary proceedings.
