Pope Leo XIV, 71, left Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Hospital on October 17, five days after surgery on his right lung and earlier than expected. Doctors Luigi Carbone and Stefano Margaritora cleared him for discharge after reviewing blood tests and a chest X-ray. Surgeons removed the lower lobe of his right lung on October 13, and laboratory analysis confirmed pulmonary adenocarcinoma. He is scheduled to lead the Angelus from the Vatican on Sunday, and his November 6–17 trip to South America remains on the agenda.
