Ebinto, adapted from Amadou Koné’s novel Les Frasques d’Ébinto, is drawing large audiences in Côte d’Ivoire and France. Its premiere at Paris’s Grand Rex sold out all 2,509 seats, and four other Paris screenings are also already full. Audiences had turned out in force in Abidjan and Bouaké as well, prompting additional screenings. Producer Charly Kodjo and director Luc Gnépa set the film in the atmosphere of the 1960s and 1970s.
