The phosphate deposits of Morocco's Khouribga Province have led to the identification of a new species of titanosaur, named Phosphatotitan khouribgaensis, from the late Maastrichtian stage, approximately 70 million years ago. Discovered in the Sidi Chennane mine, this species shares anatomical features with South American titanosaurs, particularly Patagotitan. Despite its giant relatives, Phosphatotitan was modest in size, estimated to weigh around 3.5 to 4 tonnes.
