Unicef flags child abuse on Kenya WhatsApp, Facebook platforms

UNICEF has called for stronger protections for children on digital platforms, reporting that WhatsApp and Facebook are the top sites for sexual abuse in Kenya. WhatsApp accounts for 53.3% of online abuse cases involving children aged 12 to 17, while Facebook accounts for 51.6%. Despite existing laws, many children remain exposed to violence and sexual exploitation, with less than 1% of cases reported to authorities.
