Haut-Katanga: a woman loses all five of her children in a fire in Lonshi

Five children from the same family died in a fire that occurred on the night of August 29, 2026, in Lonshi, Haut-Katanga province. The victims, four girls and one boy aged 3 to 17, were home alone while their mother was in Zambia buying school supplies. Neighbors attempted to rescue them, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The Red Cross evacuated the bodies of the victims at the scene.
