Yaoundé: A diplomat robbed of 15 million FCFA in Bastos

On August 28, 2026, Fergani Mohamed Mohamed Badawy, the director general at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was robbed in Bastos, Yaoundé. As he was leaving the Egyptian embassy, a man on a motorcycle snatched his bag containing around 15 million FCFA, his diplomatic passport, a laptop, and various documents. An investigation has been launched to identify the suspect and recover the stolen items.
