Ecuador hikes tariffs to 100-percent in feud with neighbour Colombia

The Ecuadorian government, led by President Daniel Noboa, has decided to raise tariffs on Colombian imports to 100 percent effective May 1. This decision follows criticism regarding Colombia's failure to effectively address border security and drug trafficking issues. Noboa had already imposed 50 percent tariffs in March, following a previous increase to 30 percent in January. Colombian President Gustavo Petro responded by stating that these actions threaten the Andean free trade agreement.
