United Nations reprimands Tunisia for repression of human rights defenders and members of the Judiciary

United Nations Human Rights Chief, Volker Türk, has urged Tunisia to end its increasing repression targeting civil society organizations, journalists, and human rights defenders. Recent temporary suspensions of major organizations, such as Avocats Sans Frontières and the Tunisian League for Human Rights, have been imposed, often citing financial irregularities. Türk emphasized that these actions undermine the rights protected under Tunisia's Constitution and its international human rights obligations.
