From tough midfielder to coach of the year: The double fight of Éric Roy – La Nouvelle Tribune

Éric Roy, head coach of Stade Brestois since January 2023, died on June 17, 2026 in Nice at age 58 from pancreatic cancer. He kept his illness private while leading Brest to a 3rd-place finish in Ligue 1 in 2024, qualifying for the Champions League, and winning the UNFP Coach of the Year award. A former player for OGC Nice, Marseille, Lyon, and other clubs, he also held executive roles and worked as a TV consultant.
