Two Kenyan Cabin Crew Members Honoured by UAE President After Mid-Air Emergency

Kenyan Flydubai cabin crew members David Kimotho and John Muchina received the First Class Order of Zayed II for their actions during an emergency aboard flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30. The first officer allegedly attacked the captain, seriously injuring him; the two Kenyans helped attend to the pilot and maintain order among passengers. The Boeing 737 Max, carrying 174 people, diverted to Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia, where the captain received medical treatment. Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum presented the honour on October 27 on behalf of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
