The UN calls on former slave nations to erect statues in memory of Africans

The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination has recommended that former colonial powers, particularly Britain, erect statues honoring Africans enslaved. The UN cites a moral and legal responsibility to repair the harms of the transatlantic slave trade. The report, co-authored by Gay McDougall and Pela Boker-Wilson, also calls for a review of school curricula and a strengthened fight against hate speech.
