Awolowo Family Mourns Fasoranti, Says an Era Has Ended

The Awolowo family and African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc mourned Afenifere leader Reuben Fasoranti, who died at the age of 100. In a statement dated October 20, 2026, Ọlatokunbọ Awolowo Dosumu called him one of the last great figures of the Awolowo political tradition and a lifelong advocate of justice, equity and progressive governance. Dosumu said Fasoranti’s wisdom and moral authority would leave a difficult-to-fill void and offered condolences to his family and Afenifere.

Bamidele mourns Fasoranti, saying Nigeria has lost a patriot

Nigeria’s Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, paid tribute to Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the national leader of Afenifere, who died at the age of 100.
