The Federal Government of Nigeria has directed the Nigeria Immigration Service to withdraw and deactivate passports belonging to individuals who have officially renounced their Nigerian citizenship. This directive, issued by Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, applies strictly to those whose renunciation requests have been formally approved by the President. The Minister emphasized that once a person ceases to be a citizen of Nigeria, they are no longer entitled to possess any sovereign documents, including the Nigerian passport.
