Spotted wildcat from Bolivian forest revealed as new species

A spotted cat from the forests of Bolivia has been confirmed as a new species, named _Leopardus tilcayo_. This small feline, about the size of a domestic cat, was discovered through DNA studies that revealed it belongs to a class of its own. Currently, only one member of this species, nicknamed 'Tigrino', lives in a wildlife sanctuary in Bolivia, but scientists believe there may be others in the wild.
