El Nino reaches super status: Where will it bring rain, drought and heat?

A powerful El Nino is forming in the Pacific, reshaping global weather patterns. According to NOAA, it has breached the 2C temperature rise threshold, becoming a 'super El Nino'. This phenomenon, which began developing in June 2026, is expected to peak by early 2027, bringing heavier rains to East Africa, South America, and the southern US, while causing droughts in South Asia and Australia.
