RDC: a ruling party official killed after raising awareness about Ebola

A Congolese political leader, Marie-Célestin Karondwa, interim president of the federal executive committee of UDPS in Butembo, was violently attacked and killed after publicly urging the population to follow Ebola prevention measures on a radio show. He was assaulted by local residents, beaten, his belongings looted, and his home set on fire. The attack occurs amid ongoing distrust towards the Ebola outbreak, which is a major concern in Butembo, one of the epidemic's main hotspots in the DRC.
