Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te arrived in Eswatini after his initial trip, scheduled for April 22-26, was canceled due to Chinese pressure on African countries to deny his flight. During his visit, he was welcomed by Eswatini Prime Minister Russell Dlamini and expressed hope to strengthen economic and cultural ties between Taiwan and Eswatini. Lai also planned bilateral talks with King Mswati III and the signing of a customs agreement.
