Algeria-Mali Crisis: A Third Conciliatory Gesture from Algiers in Ten Weeks

Algeria reopened its airspace to Mali on July 10, 2026, the third conciliatory gesture in ten weeks. In late April, Foreign Minister Attaf reaffirmed support for Mali's unity, and on May 2, President Tebboune proposed mediation. The airspace closure originated from the destruction of a Malian drone in April 2025. Mali has not responded officially and left the CEMOG on May 2, 2026.
