Ousted Senegal PM Sonko re-elected head of party amid political crisis

Ousmane Sonko, speaker of Senegal's National Assembly and former prime minister, was re-elected head of the Pan-African Pastef party on Saturday at a congress in Diamniadio. Sonko, sacked by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on May 22, easily won the leadership vote. The rift between the two men has triggered political upheaval and uncertainty for their party, the largest in parliament.
