GDP in Africa: the 5 least performing countries in terms of growth in early 2026 – La Nouvelle Tribune

The IMF has ranked Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, South Africa, Seychelles, and Lesotho among the African countries with the lowest GDP growth forecasts for 2026. Equatorial Guinea is expected to experience a contraction of -3.5%, while the other countries will show modest growth ranging from 0.9% to 1.3%. This economic slowdown could hinder job creation and affect public finances, while Sub-Saharan Africa is projected to achieve an average growth of 4.3%.
