FG Approves King Amachree Airport in Rivers, Sets 11 Conditions

Nigeria’s federal government has approved the proposed King Amachree Airport at Elem Ifoko in Degema Local Government Area, Rivers State, subject to 11 conditions. The approval letter, dated October 26, 2026, was addressed to Royal Fouche Services Limited executive director Prince Tonye T.J.T. Princewill after a site inspection in September. Requirements include an engineering assessment of the canal crossing the site to determine whether it should be diverted or bridged, as well as studies of flooding, tidal influences, drainage and soil conditions. The developer must also submit an airport master plan, provide reliable all-weather road access and comply with aviation and environmental regulations, including an environmental impact assessment.
