Prosecutors seek nine years in prison for Radia Selma Tahar Aouidate, who returned from Syria after joining jihad

On Friday, prosecutors sought a nine-year prison sentence and five years of post-sentence supervision for Radia Selma Tahar Aouidate, who is on trial in Paris for terrorist conspiracy. The 33-year-old acknowledged that she became radicalized at 19 and voluntarily travelled to Syria in 2014, where she embraced Islamic State ideology and remained radicalized until 2017. She has been detained in France for five and a half years; her two children, aged 9 and 11, are in the care of child welfare services. The verdict is expected later in the day.
