Teacher education now matter of national survival – Education commission

The National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) has initiated a major overhaul of Nigeria's teacher education system, stating that the nation's future relies on producing a new generation of competent teachers. Executive Secretary Dr. Angela Ajala emphasized that teacher education can no longer be treated as a mere bureaucratic exercise. The reform includes the implementation of a Dual Mandate policy allowing qualified Colleges of Education to award Bachelor of Education degrees.
