North Kivu civil society calls for unity amid emergence of the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation

In a statement issued in Beni on October 22, North Kivu civil society called on communities to strengthen their unity in the face of security threats it links to the National Front for Reconstruction (FRN), a politico-military movement it says is led by Joseph Kabila. Civil society also asked the International Criminal Court prosecutor to investigate crimes committed in eastern DRC and prosecute those allegedly responsible.

Governor Fintiri relaxes curfew in Adamawa communities affected by violence

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has relaxed the curfew in Lamurde Local Government Area, allowing residents to move between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., with restrictions in force from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. The change follows sustained calm and improved security after recurring land-related clashes between the Bachama and Tshobo communities. Fintiri urged residents to obey the curfew and called on local leaders, youth groups and women’s groups to promote peace and dialogue. Since July 2025, the violence has killed dozens and destroyed homes and vehicles; nine women died during protests in December 2025, and renewed clashes in March and April caused further casualties and the destruction of hundreds of houses.
