Coumba Gawlo Seck and Niger’s General Tiani: The Untold Story

On October 21, Senegalese singer Coumba Gawlo Seck met Niger’s General Abdourahamane Tiani at the presidential palace in Niamey, with government spokesperson Soumana Boubacar also present. She reaffirmed her affection for Niger and praised the richness of its culture, while announcing that the country will host an edition of the Festival International Chant des Linguère in January 2027. The venue, programme and invited artists have not yet been announced. The cultural initiative follows other exchanges between Senegal and Niger, including a May 2025 visit to Tiani by a Senegalese presidential envoy.
