Pope Leo XIV, 71, continues to recover after surgery to remove the lower lobe of his right lung. The procedure, performed after doctors found a suspicious nodule, confirmed an adenocarcinoma, the most common form of lung cancer. Recent tests, including a chest X-ray and blood work, show a favorable recovery; the pope is eating, moving around and working from his room at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital. He is expected to remain hospitalized at least until October 20 under medical supervision.
