Electricity in Benin: 12 rural localities in Couffo, Mono, and Zou to be served soon

Twelve rural localities in Benin will be connected to electricity through off-grid installations, as decided in the council of ministers on September 2, 2026. The affected localities are located in the Couffo, Mono, and Zou departments. This project aims to improve electricity access and living conditions for rural populations, where the electricity access rate was 10.4% in 2020. It is part of several ongoing electrification initiatives in the country.
