The National Agricultural Union for Progress in Ivory Coast (SYNAP-CI), led by Moussa Koné, initiated an indefinite strike by cocoa producers on September 16, 2026. The protest is driven by the farm gate price set at 1,200 FCFA per kilogram for the 2026-2027 season and demands for transparency in the management of the sector. The union also calls for the departure of Koné Brahima Yves, the director general of the Coffee-Cocoa Council, as a condition for ending the strike.
