The Government Wants to Strengthen Land Use Planning

The Democratic Republic of the Congo aims to improve coordination and planning in land use management to better regulate space occupation, resources, and infrastructure. An August national workshop in Kinshasa produced recommendations to secure land reserves, anticipate urban expansion, and prevent disorderly occupation. In September, Minister Jean-Lucien Bussa launched an inspection mission of the National Land Use Observatory to identify unplanned occupations and protect drainage channels, especially amid Kinshasa’s urban growth.
