Egypt’s Epidemiology Programme Becomes a WHO Collaborating Centre

The World Health Organization designated Egypt’s Field Epidemiology Training Programme (E-FETP) as a Collaborating Centre, effective 6 July 2026 for an initial four-year term. Hosted by Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population, the programme will contribute expertise to WHO field epidemiology training and strengthen regional cooperation across the Eastern Mediterranean. Established in 1993, E-FETP trains epidemiologists at several levels and has contributed to hundreds of outbreak investigations and more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
