Ebola: International funding of €446 million announced for the response

The WHO and Africa CDC announced on June 5 a $518 million (€446 million) emergency plan to fight the Ebola epidemic in the DRC, declared on May 15. The plan, running from June to November, includes strengthening surveillance, laboratories, patient care, and awareness. WHO Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stressed the need to contain the outbreak. Ebola has an average fatality rate of 50% and incubation of 2 to 21 days, but is less contagious than respiratory viruses.
