Morocco-Algeria: Pegasus investigation reveals shadow war in Madrid – La Nouvelle Tribune

An international investigation led by the Forbidden Stories consortium and fourteen European media outlets, including El Confidencial, reveals that the Pegasus spyware was used to target Algeria's ambassador to Madrid, Taous Feroukhi, between 2018 and 2019. The investigations attribute 768 infection attempts to Morocco's General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), headed by Abdellatif Hammouchi. Other targets include Polisario Front officials, Rif activists, and journalists such as Ali Lmrabet and Ignacio Cembrero. Diplomatic relations between Morocco and Algeria have been broken since August 2021.
