Eight Reforms of the CEI from 2001-2022: Focus on the First National Electoral Commission

From 2000 to 2022, Côte d'Ivoire experienced significant changes in electoral management, highlighted by the establishment of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) in 2000. This commission was designed as a transitional body in a context of distrust between the majority and the opposition. The CNE included representatives from ministries, political parties, and civil society, reflecting a desire to move beyond the traditional model inherited from colonial administration. The debate over the credibility of electoral management bodies remains relevant, especially following the dissolution of the CEI.
