Kenya records third Ebola case, linked to first patient who died

Kenya has confirmed a third case of Bundibugyo virus disease, an Ebola strain, 10 days after reporting its first case and death in Nairobi. The latest patient, a 65-year-old woman and close relative of the first two cases, had been quarantined since October 6; she tested positive after developing a fever, sore throat and malaise and is receiving supportive care. The Health Ministry says there is no community spread and the risk to the public remains low; 127 of 130 identified contacts have been traced and quarantined. The outbreak linked to the DRC has exceeded 9,000 cases and 4,300 deaths, and no licensed vaccine is available for this strain.
