South Kivu: More than 12,000 households from Kaziba displaced by intense fighting between the FRN and the army

More than 12,000 households have fled fighting between the RFN and the Congolese army, backed by the Wazalendo, in Kaziba chiefdom, South Kivu. The clashes, which had lasted more than a week and entered their ninth consecutive day on Tuesday, have scattered displaced people across Ngweshe, Burhinyi, Luhwinja and Bafuliro chiefdoms, as well as in Bukavu. Local organizations warn of an alarming humanitarian situation and call for urgent protection for families, particularly women, children and older people. The parties are not observing the ceasefire despite peace initiatives in Doha and Washington.
