From Morocco, the USA will export the drone doctrine forged in Ukraine to African armies

General Christopher Donahue announced the establishment of a regional drone training center for African armed forces, with a pilot phase in Morocco. Sixteen African military personnel will be trained between April 20 and May 8, 2026, during the multinational exercise African Lion. This project draws on lessons from the conflict in Ukraine, aiming to enhance the security capabilities of African states against terrorism. Morocco, a major non-NATO ally of the United States, was chosen for its ability to train trainers.
