Insecurity: Tinubu urged to inaugurate taskforce against illegal checkpoints, multiple taxation

Nigerian trade and labour unions, including agricultural producers, market traders, and transporters, have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to launch a national highway taskforce against illegal checkpoints and multiple taxation. They warn that these practices, coupled with rising insecurity, undermine interstate commerce, increase transportation costs, and worsen inflation. While acknowledging recent government reforms, the unions call for more action to improve the ease of doing business and road safety.
