Ogun urges miners to embrace free tuberculosis screening, treatment

The Ogun State Government has urged miners to take advantage of free tuberculosis screening and treatment provided by the Ministry of Health in partnership with FCBDS. Commissioner Adebola Sofela highlighted miners' increased vulnerability due to occupational exposure. Samuel Odunjo noted that Nigeria has the sixth-highest TB burden globally with about 479,000 cases, and each untreated patient can infect 10-15 people annually. Stakeholders commended the initiative as timely for safeguarding workers' health and productivity.
