South Africa Attempts to Break the World Record for the Largest Barbecue

Nearly 3,000 South Africans gathered on September 24 in Pretoria at Loftus Versfeld Stadium to attempt setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of people grilling simultaneously, called 'The World’s Biggest Braai'. The event, held on Heritage Day, aimed to surpass the previous record of 2,220 participants set in Japan in November 2023. Participants had to grill for at least five minutes, with traditional foods like boerewors, burgers, steaks, and lamb chops, a popular South African tradition.
