Prioritise safety during heavy rains - Ekiti Commissioner warns residents

Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, urged residents to exercise caution during ongoing heavy rains. She advised motorists, tricycle operators, and motorcyclists to avoid unnecessary travel during intense rainfall and to slow down, keep safe distances, and avoid flooded areas. The commissioner also called for proper sanitation, free-flowing drains, and prompt reporting of hazards like fallen trees and blocked waterways. She reassured that the ministry will continue monitoring weather conditions and working with relevant agencies to safeguard lives and the environment.
