“It’s a very big disappointment”: Motsepe's first words upon arrival in Morocco

Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football, arrived in Rabat on April 9, 2026, after visiting Senegal. He praised Morocco and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation for their role in the success of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, while expressing disappointment over the incidents that occurred during the final between Senegal and Morocco. Motsepe announced reforms aimed at aligning CAF's statutes with FIFA's to enhance the credibility of competitions and preserve the integrity of African football.
