Evictions and demolitions in Abidjan: COJEP cries indignation

The Pan-African Congress for Justice and Equality of Peoples (COJEP), led by former minister Charles Blé Goudé, expressed indignation over the eviction and demolition operations in Abidjan. Thousands of families, including women, children, and the elderly, were forced to leave their homes, facing severe social distress. COJEP does not contest the need for urban order but criticizes the lack of foresight and coherence in urban governance, noting that these areas had been occupied for decades with administrative tolerance. The party refuses to let populations be sacrificed for development and calls for a more humane approach.
