Man United’s Martinez apologises after talks with Carrick

Lisandro Martinez apologised on Thursday for criticising Manchester United’s hierarchy after the club’s 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid. The Argentina defender met manager Michael Carrick and club officials after training, two days after calling for greater investment. Martinez said his frustration had led him to speak out at the wrong time and apologised publicly. A club source said any internal disciplinary action would remain private and that all parties considered the matter closed.
