SAPS body-camera rollout faces funding and oversight questions

An amount of R14 million has been allocated to support the procurement of body-worn and vehicle dashboard cameras for the South African Police Service. Acting Police Minister Professor Firoz Cachalia confirmed that the procurement process is in its final stages. The cameras are expected to enhance accountability and evidence-gathering while reducing misconduct among police officers.
