Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics: Seydina Oumar Touré takes a swipe at Ousmane Sonko: “Diomaye Faye did it quietly, but…”

Seydina Oumar Touré, a former gendarmerie captain, accused Ousmane Sonko of politicizing the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games to boost his popularity. In a Facebook post, he contrasted President Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s quiet visit to a sports final with the announcements, rallies and livestreams he said Sonko needed around his appearance. Touré urged Senegalese people to unite behind the national flag and keep partisan politics out of the event. Dismissed from the gendarmerie in 2021, Touré has recently moved closer to Diomaye Faye and distanced himself from Pastef leader Sonko.
