Withholding NLNG Dividends Is Hindering States’ Progress, Makinde Says

Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement presidential candidate Seyi Makinde says delays in distributing states’ shares of Nigeria LNG dividends are hampering development planning and infrastructure investment. Speaking at a 2027 budget consultation in Ibadan on Friday, he said each state was entitled to 250 billion naira, but payment had been postponed until after the 2027 general elections. Makinde said the delay had forced Oyo to put some projects intended to grow its economy and improve infrastructure on hold.
